Peaceful, convenient, friendly

The kibbutz provides a peaceful alternative to staying in the party-oriented hotel strip of Eilat. NB, it is not *in* Eilat but is close by taxi. We paid about 45 shekels (currently a little under $15) for a ride to the Coral Beach Nature Preserve or the Underwater Observatory, which are some distance south of Eilat itself; the beaches in the city are closer. Service at the reception was friendly and helpful; staff speak English well and were also receptive when we wanted to try out our Hebrew. Rooms are air conditioned. Our family of 4 had a suite with a bedroom, a living room with the kids' beds, a kitchenette, a nice washroom with shower, and a patio space at the door, for less than many of the single hotel rooms in Eilat. The atmosphere is just like being on a kibbutz, because you are on a kibbutz -- the guest rooms are right near the kibbutz members' housing and you pass by the kibbutz kindergarten on the way to breakfast where you eat in the same lovely and spacious dining hall as the kibbutzniks. Breakfast (varied and all-you-can-eat) is included with the price of the room; lunch is available for a reasonable price, but you have to make your own arrangements with supper. There is a "minimarket" on the kibbutz right near the dining hall and if you find them open they have a good selection of bread, cheese, fruit, snacks, etc. Wireless internet is available in the area around the reception desk, inside and outside, though not in the rooms themselves. There is a hotel next door where you can use the swimming pool though its ours are a bit limited so we didn't end up going there. All in all a refreshing, peaceful stay. We would definitely go again.
