My wife and I had a great time at the Orchid. While Eilat proper is over crowded with hotels, the Orchid is a couple of miles south of town and away from the congestion. The property is beautifully landscaped and is built into the side of a mountain in tiers. Complimentary transportation within the complex is provided by 'tuk tuk' carts, but you can walk if you want as I did about half the time. All rooms include breakfast and the buffet is literally unbelievable. There is even a salad maker at the butter, who was constantly making fresh salads and was clearly a pro. The dinner is a great deal if you want to eat buffet style. The quantity and variety of food was far beyond what I expected. My only complaint would be that they did not include hot water for tea at dinner. This of course is minor. You need to note that the beach you see in the photo is not accessible for swimming. It is part of a snorkeling nature preserve which requires a small fee to use. I understand that the hotel beach, about 300-500 meters away is rocky. I never used it. Most guests stayed on the premises and used the pool and gym. The upper pool was not opened and that was a disappointment as my room was close by, but the main pool is much larger and well landscaped. My wife and I had a Shangrila room which is supposed to be nicer than the regular rooms. It was luxurious and I therefore cannot comment on the standard rooms, but I assume that in this caliber of hotel they were very nice as well. The service was the absolute best in any hotel I have ever stayed at in Israel. The room was spotlessly clean. In terms of business or romance, the crowd was primarily family oriented and so the lobby areas at night were a both noisy. It did not look like a place for singles to meet. The next time we stay in Eilat, we will return to the Orchid.

This review is the subjective opinion of the hotel's guest and not of inisrael.com
